Cast your cares

“6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, 7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” – 1 Peter 5:6-7 (NKJV)
“Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” – 1 Peter 5:7 (NLT)

There are moments in life when there seems to be no one to listen, no one to understand, no one able to fix what’s broken. And even if there happen to be such people in our lives, who are shoulders to cry on, who can carry your burdens, no one is like God (YHWH).

Seeing the state of the world today, it’s easy to think God is this distant being, uncaring of human affairs. Yet quite the opposite is true. He is so close, waiting for us to run to Him with open arms, ready to heal or wounds.

See, once you get to know God, through Jesus-Christ, and his attributes, you understand that He loves and cares for you. He is Father, friend, healer, and so much more. The way you get to know Him is by spending time with Him, reading the Bible and in prayer.

So, when 1 Peter says to “cast your cares upon Him,” it means be vulnerable before God. Tell Him about the times you’ve been hurt and disappointed. Tell Him about your regrets and your desires. Tell Him about the times you’ve hurt others too. Speak to Him as you would a close friend, or a father, or a therapist. It’s between you and God. And through His Holy Spirit, ask Him to heal and restore you from those experiences: He can, and He is willing.

I’ll leave it at that for now.

Until next time,

Go conquer.
